A loop, a lagoon, and a seagull at the door.
In 2021, I was inspired to write one song after another. I loved starting with a simple loop — a small piece of music I could play over and over while I searched for the melody and the words.
I made this guitar loop in FL Studio, copied it onto a memory stick and played it in my car so I could listen while driving.
After work, I often went to the lagoon to feed the seagulls. I went there so regularly that it sometimes felt as though they knew me — and even recognized my car.

One evening I drove to the lagoon without any food for them. I parked, stayed in the car and played that guitar loop over and over.
Then one seagull came and sat right beside my door, watching me.
Where there is love, there is hope for us all.”
I wasn't sitting there trying to write a song. I was feeling it.
When I got home, the melody and the rest of the words kept flowing. I started building the music in FL Studio. I didn't have much experience — I was so excited about making songs that instead of waiting until I knew everything, I simply started creating and learned as I went.
I still love this backtrack. To this day, I think it is one of my favourite pieces of music I created in FL Studio.
But I couldn't finish the song then. I didn't have a microphone.
Life moved on, and The Light remained there — written, composed and waiting. In March 2024, nearly three years after that evening at the lagoon, I finally recorded the vocals. My sister helped me get the timing right.
In 2024, The Light became the song that brought me back to finishing and sharing my own music again.
